631 Howard Rehabilitation

The rehabilitation of the 631 Howard Office Building, located in San Francisco’s South Financial District, aimed to refresh the five story, 100,315sf structure originally built in 1929. Working together with Berkeley-based practice Robert Remiker Architects, the scope of work entailed the complete re-positioning of the existing five story building. Work included new foundations, shotcrete walls, seismic upgrade, new mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire sprinklers, new interior stairs, and all interior finishes. All work was completed without disruption while the building remained occupied. The Class A office building offers the advantage of large floor plates, easy access to public transportation and the coveted amenity of ample parking in a market with a shrinking supply. The property is one block from the thriving Second Street Technology Corridor and just a few blocks from the largest U.S. development currently under construction, the massive Transbay Project that is dramatically changing the landscape of downtown San Francisco.
