La Petite Baleen Swim School

Located in the Presidio of San Francisco, the La Petite Baleen project entailed the conversation of a 10,000sf airplane hangar into a swim school for children. The project converted one of the original Crissy Field historic Army Air Corps hangars into a swimming facility. The project included two heated saltwater swimming pools, locker rooms, an air-conditioned viewing area for observation, offices, equipment rooms, and support space. Work entailed seismic upgrades, interior and exterior renovations, and mechanical and electrical upgrades. This project was recognized by the California Heritage Council’s 2009 California Preservation and Adaptive Re-use Award, the 2009 California Preservation Foundation Award for Large Rehabilitation and the Pacific Coast Builders Conference 2009 Gold Nugget Award of Merit.
